Since the government began receiving provisional waiver applications, they have accepted a total of 42,376 applications. Of the cases that have received decisions, 16,639 have been approved and 7,968 have been denied.
The USCIS National Benefits Center (NBC) has stated that of the 1,200 Provisional Waiver cases denied prior to the January 24, 2014 field guidance on “reason to believe,” 99.17% (or 1,190) required reopening, and 46.97% (or 572) were approved after reopening. The NBC also noted that if there are any remaining I-601A cases previously denied or held in abeyance for “reason to believe” issues, the NBC should be notified in writing.
